Auditory Integrations Therapy

“The ear is more than one of the five senses, enabling hearing.”
G. Bérard.

“Audition égale Comportement”
G. Bérard

“Human behaviour is, for a great deal, conditioned by the nature of contact one has with the surrounding world of sound.

Disturbances of auditory sensation may provoke disorders that largely surpass hearing-problems. After studying correlations between hearing-disturbances and different disorders, as there are dyslexia, autism and depressive mood, a therapy-methode was developed by Dr. Guy Bérard.
Since more than 25 years, Dr. Guy Bérard works and adapts his therapy.”

Auditory Integration Therapy addresses itself to children and youngsters with learning-problems, dyslexia, writing-disorders, delayed speech, concentration- and auditory discrimination problems, people suffering from depression and fatique.

Treatment:
An audiometric examination focusing on the quality of hearing, selectivity, laterality, speed, fatigue and hearing-distortions preceeds treatment.

Treatment lasts 2 weeks (Monday till Friday) with 2 sessions of 30 minutes a day.
During the first week-end, as well as at the end of the second week a control-audiogram is made.
After three months, parents/patients discuss the results with the therapist.

In fact treatment is a stimulation of hearing by a dynamic sound-source. The ear is forced to process adapted sounds, in order to improve auditory integration.
